The first six months as President
have been fun and challenging and very
busy.We have implemented a new edu-
cation program, reopened the La Belle
Country Store and we are completing
what appears to be
a successful Annual
Appeal.
As we work our
way through these
new initiatives,
we must rely on
our volunteers to
ensure our contin-
ued success. Presently, we have volun-
teers digitizing photos for the archives,
filing newly donated original photos
and printed matter, giving tours of the
Provencal Weir House, serving as sales
assistants in La Belle’s Country Store
and greeting folks at the Grosse Pointe
Historical Society booth at civic events
– West Park Farmers Market in Grosse
Pointe Park, the Annual Village Side-
walk Sale and Street Festival and more.
The opportunities are bounded by our
imaginations.
I am impressed with the work our
volunteers accomplish.We could not
possibly conduct business without their
help. But there is room for many more
willing hands. Share your skills and inter-
est by volunteering. Call 313-884-7010
and we will match you with a job you
are sure to enjoy.
Remember, we are all Keepers of
History.The Grosse Pointe Histori-
cal Society could not exist without our
members and the community at large
donating their time, family photos and
information for all to enjoy.

estate, displayed on one of the four Grosse Pointe Historical Society postcards was
generously provided by Marie P.
Fuger. Ms. Fuger is a descendent
of the Hall family. Her great
grandmother was Marie Hall
Fuger Delbos. The photograph
dates to 1881, taken during
the summer grand opening of
the house.
Susan Hartz is available to offer her well received talk “Glorious Gardens of Grosse
Pointe” to your organization or group. The powerpoint presentation is filled with
images of impressive historic properties and gardens of old Grosse Pointe.
