Joseph Berry's grandson, Joseph Sherrard, married twice-divorced Charlotte Marie Parker. She brought two daughters along with her into the marriage, Charlotte and Frankie Edith. While living in New York during her college years, Frankie Edith became romantically involved with Jack Kerouac. She became his first wife, but had the marriage annulled a year after their nuptials.
